7 Unique Productivity Systems:

Systems are the key to productivity.

Benefits of systems:

  • Track progress

  • Increase efficiency

  • Reduce decision fatigue

  • Find areas for improvement

Here are 7 systems that help me get more done.

1) Character alarms

Sahil Bloom uses character alarms to ensure he's fulfilling his important roles.

Affirmations like this are a powerful way to build habits.

2) Energy calendar

Energy management is essential for productivity and happiness.

Color code your calendar activities based on how they affect your energy.

  • Green - energy gains

  • Yellow - neutral

  • Red - energy drains

3) Values tracker

Your values should be the drivers of your behavior.

Each night, write down one thing you did to align with each value.

Check out this tweet to learn how to align your actions with your values.

4) Not to do list

Make a list of tasks you will not do.

Saying no is essential for creating focus.

5) Weekly checkpoints

Identify 3-5 main objectives that you can work on every week.

Track your progress toward these objectives in a weekly reflection.

You can find my weekly checkpoint template here — just make a copy.

6) 4 types of walks

Walking improves creativity, cognitive performance, and feelings of connection.

Types of walks:

  • Morning sunlight walks ~ 15-20 min without any technology

  • Break walks ~ 5-10 min walks between meetings or after meals

  • Active walks ~ 30-60 min at a brisk pace with optional technology

  • Passive walks ~ 30-60 min at a leisurely pace without any technology

7) 25/5 method

Warren Buffet writes down 25 things he could work on.

He focuses solely on the top 5 things until they are completed.

Productivity Systems TL; DR:

  • Character alarms

  • Energy calendar

  • Values tracker

  • Not to do list

  • Weekly checkpoints

  • 4 types of walks

  • 25/5 method

Tool of the Week — Routiway:
